Opportunities

During the summer of 2008 the Western Copper established a new exploration camp at the Casino Project to support exploration work over the next 5 years. Since obtaining its exploration permit in early October the Company has started a small drilling program that will end in late November.

Western Copper commenced the collection of baseline environmental data and socio-economic information that will be used to complete the Casino Project Proposal. Some baseline environmental studies started in 2008, including surface water flow and quality studies, groundwater studies, fish and fish habitat studies, wildlife and plant studies, and meteorology studies. This work along with data collection and studies concerning heritage and archaeology, Traditional Knowledge, resource use, and socio-economics will continue into 2009.

Consultation with affected First Nations and communities about the project and the baseline studies will be an important component of the baseline programs.
